If you’re a parent of a child with special needs, then you’re always going from here to there to find all the services you need. The Center for Developmental Services is a network of care providers for children and adults with special needs. They are an umbrella organization that gathers independent care providers under a single roof, and helps direct their clients to the services they need.
Headquartered in downtown Greenville, CDS brings the expertise and value of six partner services to one location. Families have access to multiple providers, while also being engaged in our family-friendly environment. It is the perfect definition of synergy, where the combined partnership produces a greater result than the sum of each organization operating independently.
CDS was created after a 1992 comprehensive study suggested that programs for children and adolescents with developmental needs co-locate in one site. Today, celebrating its 15th year, CDS now brings multiple Greenville County organizations under one roof to address developmental issues, in collaboration. It offers a common intake and scheduling process, a shared medical record department, Spanish translation, community activities, and programs for families.
Although the majority of their families live in Greenville County, over 30% come from surrounding areas such as Anderson, Pickens, Oconee, Spartanburg, Laurens, and even a few from out of state. CDS also attends about 30 health fairs each year to reach even more individuals in these areas.
